Isolation Transformer
Being one of the leading names in providing excellent
quality products and services, we are offering Isolation Transformers used
to decouple two circuits. Our transformer allows an AC signal or power to be
taken from one device and fed into another without electrically connecting
the two circuits. Made from latest technology and equipments with the help
of highly qualified professionals, these are extensively used in computers
and laboratory instruments.
Standard Isolation Transformers
Isolation Transformers have primary and secondary windings that are kept
physically separate. Sometimes isolation transformers are called "insulated
transformers". This is because the primary and secondary windings are
insulated from each other.
In an isolation transformer the output winding will be isolated, or
floating from earth ground, unless bonded when it is installed.
Shielded Isolation Transformers
Shielded
isolation transformers have all the features of the standard isolation
transformers plus they also incorporate a full metallic shielding (this
shielding is often copper or aluminum) between the primary and secondary
windings. These shielded isolation transformers are then referred to as
electrostaticly shielded isolation transformers. The electrostatic shield ("Faraday
Shield") is connected to earth ground and performs two functions:
- It filters (attenuates) voltage spikes (voltage transients). These
shielded isolation transformers have an attenuation ratio of 100 to 1.
- It filters common mode noise. This is usually an attenuation of
approximately 30 decibels.
Shielded isolation transformers are preferred over standard
isolation transformers because it provides protection for sensitive and
critical equipment.
When more than one shielded isolation transformer is installed between the
source and the load, this is referred to as "cascading" and vastly
improves power quality.
